Observatory the Opticians are celebrating their 30th year on Muswell Hill Broadway this summer.

Observatory are known for their fashionable frames (having won the UK’s Fashion Practice of the Year in 2016), but did you know that they were one of the first opticians in the country to invest in an Optical Coherence Tomographer (OCT)? Normally only seen in hospitals, this technology can detect dangerous eye conditions up to five years earlier than previously possible, highlighting changes before any symptoms appear. Amazing!

Observatory the Opticians visit the London, Paris and Milan trade shows every year to keep on top of the latest trends and hand-edit the frames that they think their customers will love, mixing our collection with an emphasis on high fashion and high quality. Observatory stock designer brands such as MOSCOT, Oliver Peoples, Paul Smith, Face a Face, Lindberg, Ray-Ban, Etnia, Celine, Chanel and Tom Ford as well as brands who do high fashion at low prices like Cocoa Mint and Superdry.

Observatory the Opticians are offering Muswell Hill Mums 10% off all purchases (excluding sale items).

And don’t forget the little ones – UV rays can also damage the eyes of babies and children. Make sure they have a CE mark and if you’re in doubt, they have a cool gadget called a Spectrometer which can tell whether your sunnies are safe.

The shop just got in a great range of indestructible children’s sunglasses called Suneez which only cost £24. They come with polarized lenses, completely flexible frames, a detachable strap and a carry pouch. Even better, they are a London-based company. If you have a baby or toddler who pulls their sunglasses off, Observatory also stock BabyBanz which has a strap to keep them secure.

Observatory also recently ordered a great new range for kids from French company Anne & Valentin after getting so many requests for these beautiful frames. New stock has just arrived in store in a variety of really flattering colours which look incredible on children.

For the grown ups, you can pick from a range of prescription sunglasses from only £99. Imagine being able to read your book in the sunshine – they really are a life-changer!

Observatory the Opticians had a refit in 2016 so if you haven’t been in recently, come and have a look (we have a pushchair button on the door to help mums). We hope you will continue to support them as they head into their 31st year in N10.
