Our holiday round-up is jam-packed with fantastic activities from summer picnics to music concerts, a summer competition, reading challenge and holiday camps. Read on!

The Odd One Out Summer Competition

Over the summer holidays, strange objects will be appearing in shop windows across Muswell Hill…

Can you spot the “Odd One Out”?

A fun and free competition organised by the Muswell Hill & Fortis Green Association.
To take part, get your entry sheet from the Muswell Hill Library from 21st July and be in for a chance to win one of 40 Everyman tickets.

Summer Picnics for under 3s

The Muswell Hill Methodist Church opens its door for a series of summer picnics over the holidays.

Thursdays 26 July and on 2, 9, 16, 23 August from 10.30am – 12.30pm. The picnics are geared to under 3’s, and there will be a separate area for younger babies and indoor activities too in case it rains.

Bring your own picnic, but drinks and biscuits will be available. £2 donation per family.

The Summer Reading Challenge

The theme for 2018 is Mischief Makers, inspired by the much-loved characters from The Beano comic, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year. Children will be able to explore a map of Beanotown to find buried treasure – Dennis, Gnasher and friends will help them to solve clues, collect stickers and have lots of fun along the way!

Registration is open to all primary school children.

– Special event at South Friern Library, Colney Hatch Lane on 16th August from 2.30pm –

Make a Beano character mask and other disguises to trick your friends and family! Suitable for children aged 4+. No booking required, but spaces will be allocated on first-come, first-served basis.

Summer Holiday Camps

With nearly two months off now, attending a summer camp is a great way for children to get active and outside, learn new skills and mingle with kids outside their immediate circle.

From fun and games to crafts, musical theatre and dance, coding and football, there is something for everyone. Click here to find out what is going on in & around Muswell Hill.

Music in the Gardens

The annual season of Music in the Gardens of Muswell Hill Methodist Church will run on every Sunday afternoon in July and August, starting from 2pm with the music beginning around 3pm.

The very varied programme of musicians includes a range of instrumentalists, singers, dancers and brass bands. Light refreshments are available, and you are welcome to bring a picnic (no alcohol please). No admission charge, but donations towards costs are welcome. Any proceeds from refreshments and donations will be given to Action for Children.
