Christmas is in the air and the people of Muswell Hill will be coming together this 1st December to light the Christmas tree, sing some carols, and welcome in the festive season with style.

Once again, The Friends of St James’s Square are inviting the community to gather in the square for an afternoon of fun and community spirit.  Food and drink stalls will keep everyone warm and happy, and St James’s Church will be hosting an array of stalls, perfect for that hard-to-get Christmas gift that is a little bit different and special.

A highlight, of course, will be the chance to meet Santa, who is already on his way to us from the North Pole to receive visits in his grotto.  Entertainment this year also includes Monster Dance, who will be amazing us with their acrobatics in the square.  And for those of a crafty bent, decorate a gingerbread man, or make a bauble for our tree.

As the sun sets, the afternoon will culminate with a special visit from the Gingerbread Man, currently performing at Jackson’s Lane Theatre, who will light the Christmas tree, before the day ends on a serene note with Viva Voce leading carol singing around the tree.

Based on previous years, the atmosphere is expected to be magical as the sun sets and the Christmas tree lights take over.  Mark your diaries for an afternoon to get you into the Christmas spirit, and to mix with your neighbours and local community.
