Slipstitch

Slipstitch is a shop, workshop and gallery space located in a vibrant row of Edwardian shops on Alexandra Park Road. Slipstitch was launched by local craft enthusiast Judith Isherwood in 2011 as a place for people to connect with heritage crafts through workshops and exhibitions; it endeavours to support the work of UK based designer-makers through a range of carefully selected products and resources with a focus on natural materials.

Alongside yarn, haberdashery and fabrics, the Slipstitch shop has a great selection of handmade garments from independent designer-makers, beautiful jewellery and gifts, as well as friendly advice on a range of crafts from the team of creative staff and tutors.

Slipstitch offers a great range of workshops and one to one sessions for adults and children. From beginners sewing and ‘how to use your sewing machine’ to ‘Shibori dyeing – the Japanese art of stitch and bound’ and lampshade making. Workshops run on weekdays, Wednesday evenings and Saturdays and are all priced at £40 for 90 minutes. ‘Meet & make’ runs on the first and last Wednesday of every month, between 6-8pm, where you can work on your own project with likeminded crafters.

As well as workshops Slipstitch also hosts a range of parties. Parties can be booked for a birthday, baby shower, hen party or just a great excuse to get a few friends together. Adult parties include; sewing, knitting, embroidery, fabric printing… or little a garter making for the odd Hen party! Children’s parties are also very popular, where children aged 6 plus can enjoy crafting with friends whilst parents relax.

For information on the full range of workshops and 1-2-1’s, parties and more see the website.
